How to Make a Therapist Landing Page in Squarespace (Even If You’re Not Ready to Launch)

Today I’m covering what to include on a therapist landing page (or “coming soon” page) and also how to set it up in Squarespace.

Maybe you're accepting new clients but still haven't had the time to finish your full website (because... life). A landing page is a great way to get something up and running fast.

Whether you're just starting your therapy practice or in between website updates, a simple “coming soon” page can help you show up online, connect with potential clients, and share the basics. In this post, I’ll walk you through what to include on your therapist landing page, plus how to create one step-by-step in Squarespace (even if you don’t have photos or content ready yet!).

Why You Might Want a Therapist Landing Page

A landing page is a great solution when:

  • You're accepting new clients but your full website isn't ready yet

  • You need a temporary “coming soon” page while you finalize photos, content, or design

  • You’ve started by getting listed on directories like Psychology Today and you want a place for potential clients get more information

  • You want something live so you can start showing up in Google search

Even a one-page site can help with local SEO for therapists and give potential clients a way to contact you or learn more—without needing a full build-out.

What to Include on a Simple Therapist Landing Page

You can start super-simple just to get yourself going (because that’s often the hardest part). The basics of a strong therapist landing page include:

  • A clear headline. Something like “Now Accepting New Clients” or “Opening Fall 2025”works, or you can get descriptive, like “A Safe Place to Heal & Grow. Coming 2026.”

  • A warm welcome message. Your name, your practice name if you have one (OK if you don’t have a logo), who you are, what you offer, and where you’re located.

  • Contact information. Your email, phone number, or a secure scheduling link

This is enough to let people know you’re real, available, and trustworthy!

Optional Add-ons & Ideas to Make It More Comprehensive

If you have more content ready (or maybe you want to build in phases, that works too), you can consider adding:

  • A professional photo of yourself

  • Photos of your office

  • Blurbs about your therapy services or specialties

  • Your credentials (Google likes to see these to verify your expertise)

  • Your hours, location and a map (if you have a physical location)

  • A self-scheduling widget (if using)

  • A general newsletter opt-in form or maybe even a freebie (great for building your list!)

  • Instagram feed (especially helpful if you’re already active and want to build connection, if you’re not active on there, then just skip this one)

  • FAQs (to answer common questions ahead of time and reduce back-and-forth emails)

These additions can turn a basic “coming soon” page into a high-converting landing page for your private practice.

Here are the same site examples as above (just the comprehensive versions):

How to Make a Landing Page in Squarespace: Step-by-Step

Here’s a quick walkthrough from the video tutorial above:

Step 1: Create a new blank page

  • In Pages, click the + under "Not Linked"

  • Choose Blank Page and name it something like “Coming Soon”

Step 2. Hide the header and footer

  • Click the gear icon > Navigation settings

  • Toggle off both header and footer for a clean look (and to prevent people from being able to click onto pages that aren’t ready yet-make sure to include your name or your practice name, since your site title will not be visible!)

3. Add a full-screen section

  • Use a prebuilt or blank section

  • Enable Fill Screen: Large so it looks good on all devices

4. Add your content

  • Write a strong headline (e.g. “Now Accepting Clients”)

  • Add a short intro with your name, services, and location

  • Include contact info (email or phone) or a scheduling link

5. Optional: Add extra sections

  • Add service blurbs, a newsletter opt-in, a photo, or your Instagram feed

  • Consider embedding your scheduling tool instead of using Squarespace forms (not HIPAA-compliant, read more about this here: Squarespace Forms Are Not HIPAA Compliant)

6. Preview and check mobile view

  • Click the mobile icon and make sure spacing looks clean and aligned

7. Set as your homepage

  • Go back to settings and click Set as Homepage

8. Disable unfinished pages

  • Use the gear icon to temporarily disable other pages so they don’t show up in search (and so visitors don’t accidentally see unfinished pages 😬)

Final Tips for Going Live

  • Don’t overthink it. A landing page is better than no site at all!

  • Keep your tone warm and professional—like a front door to your future practice.

  • Update it when you're ready with photos, blog posts, or a full site build.

  • If using Squarespace, when ready to go live, just set your homepage as your homepage and you’re good to go!

Why a Landing Page Isn’t a Long-Term Solution (Even if You Made a Really Good One!)

A well-designed landing page can go a long way. It creates a sense of professionalism, builds trust, and helps you start connecting with potential clients. But eventually, most therapists outgrow a single-page site.

Here’s why:

  • SEO limitations: A landing page can get you started in search, but Google favors sites with multiple pages and in-depth content. A full website gives you space to expand on your services, specialties, and location-based keywords.

  • Client confidence: Potential clients often want to learn more before reaching out. For example, your approach, background, or whether you specialize in their specific concerns. A full site gives them that clarity.

  • Growth and referrals: As your practice evolves, you may add new services, group offerings, or resources. A full website makes it easier to grow without needing a major rebuild.

TL;DR: A landing page is a great placeholder, but a full website helps people find you, trust you, and book with confidence
